Around the Wharf
Thank you to all those who braved the "extreme weather" - not a scarf or mitten needed!
With a warm but fresh morning, it looked like everyone enjoyed themselves and I have some 'big smiles' pictures to post on the website. Click HERE to see the intrepid explorers
Although we didn't get round to flagging the course [too busy trying to squeeze a five boat raft through the bridge and running the gunnels at the tunnel] I did collect the following sites for our map:
Following in the Paddlestokes of "the Rabbit Ship" (Mr and Ms Smith), who launched first and led the way, the following boats choose their sites to name:
Those Paddling Named the Area As
Green Giant...............Tunnel mooring posts.................................Tunnel Bank
Trawden Terror.........The Wharf building (polite version).............Haunted Warehouse
Thunderbird...............Widened area near the toilets......................Duckville
Blue Banana..............A small cove near the clubhouse................Crocodile Creek
Speedy......................The mulched up field where cows drink.....Cows End
Prawden Taddler.......The area before the first bridge..................Paddle Lands
Haslingden Horror......Renamed the first bridge.............................Loch Ness Bridge
These join Reedy Waters and Foulridge Tunnel as designated Pendle Paddler sites to go on our own club map, which is looking really good.
The scores for the scoff are as follows:
- flapjacks won outright
- mango smoothies pipped banana - 10 votes to 6
- mixed reception to the mixed fruit but enjoyed by a 2/3rds majority
Thank you to all who completed questionnaires - I'll be sending the scores to Pendle Borough Council, who sponsored the "Cool fuel" part of the event
